Last Sunday we went to Laneway Festival at a former mental institution, now home to Sydney College of the Arts. Particular highlights were Beach House - whose dreamy, ethereal tunes I've been listening to for years - Deerhunter - who are a more recent obsession - and Warpaint - who I have only just discovered and am officially obsessed with. These four girls (one of whom is Australian) dress like rockchick gypsies and sound amazing too. I was shocked to discover that this band has actually been around for seven years...I have some serious catching up to do.
